The opening scene of Miley Cyrus’s “Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions)” shows a quintessential California scene: a pool, a patio, places to lounge, walking paths surrounded by native plantings and Mid-Century Modern architecture. Plus the pop chanteuse, clad in white, performing in front of the Santa Monica and San Gabriel mountains.
Now the home—located in Chatsworth, a suburban neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley—is back on the market for $16.5 million.
Known as the Farralone House, it was designed in 1951 by renowned architect William Pereira for banking heiress Dora Hutchinson. Since then, it’s been a haven for celebrities, from Frank Sinatra—who lived there in the 1950s and 1960s—to Judy Garland and Lucille Ball, according to the listing with Mike Deasy of DPP Real Estate.
A regular stage set for movies and TV, having been used as a backdrop for “Mad Men” and “Dreamgirls” (2006), the nearly 14-acre estate has been on and off the market for years. It was listed in 2015 and again in 2018, Mansion Global previously reported, and was on the market in 2021 for $21.5 million. Last fall, it was relisted for $12.75 million, but an additional 7-acre plot—with zoning for 10 new dwellings—was not included, Mansion Global reported at the time. The full estate was re-listed at the end of March.
The residence features six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, with hardwood and zebra cork floors, bright white interiors, built-in shelving, 16-foot ceilings and retractable walls that lead to the outside, according to the listing. In addition to views of multiple mountain ranges, it also overlooks the 1,325-acre meadowlands of Lake Chatsworth nature preserve.
The dining room, kitchen and three en-suite bedrooms makeup one wing of the home, while the primary bedroom area takes up the other. There’s also a pool house and gym, a one-bedroom guest house with a separate pool and a huge motor court.

Ms. Cyrus, 30, also filmed the music video for her hit “Flowers,” released in January ahead of the full album, “Endless Summer Vacation,” which dropped in March. She climbed the roof, literally, for the nighttime video, which was too dark to see much of the home. But the house and grounds are on full display in the 43-minute concert and interview with the singer, “Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions),” which also came out last month.
The current owner bought the property in 1998 for $1.54 million through a trust, property records show. They were not immediately available for comment.
A representative for Ms. Cyrus did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
