Flight attendant reveals one of the job’s biggest ‘cons’ about staying in small cities

A flight attendant is going viral on TikTok after sharing a major downside of spending the night in smaller cities.
The flight attendant, who posts under the name Serenity (@serenityhaley1), explained the issue while waiting at the airport during a particularly late night.
Her video is just the latest to give a behind-the-scenes glance at a job TikTokers seem endlessly fascinated by. In recent months, flight attendants have gone viral for sharing all kinds of info — from why planes still have ashtrays to what those in-flight “chime” sounds really mean.
Serenity’s video offers a glimpse into a specific-but-annoying aspect of the job. According to her clip, it’s often difficult for flight attendants to get to their hotels when landing late in a small city.
“It’s 2 a.m., and we’re still at the airport,” she says in her clip. “And the hotel shuttle is no longer runner.”
Serenity explains that, at the time of recording, all Ubers and Lyfts were either busy or unavailable.
“So who knows if we’re ever gonna make it out of this dang airport,” she adds.
TikTokers were surprised that a problem like this seemed somewhat common to Serenity.
“How do airports not have on-site hotel rooms for flight attendants and pilots?” one user asked.
“What did [flight attendants] do before taxis and Ubers?” another added.
“The struggle is real,” another agreed.
In the comments, Serenity clarified that this issue is specific to small airports, where it’s harder to get to the hotel and where they may be arriving on a smaller plane — which often lacks the “secret” bedrooms where airplane staff can sleep.
Thankfully, Serenity also added that she and the other flight attendants managed to get a taxi to their hotel. Unlike many TikTok commenters, she seemed largely unfazed by the whole ordeal.
“Flexibility is a must when it comes to flying,” she wrote.
